Comtense Apparel CAD System consists of a number of modules that can work independently dynamically interchanging data between themselves, which makes the system very flexible in sense of adjusting to the users' needs and widens the area of its application. Comtense software offers a wide range of functionality including the following:

• pattern design and digitization
• pattern grading
• marker making
• plotters and cutters control
• models data management both locally and in a network

Pattern design and grading:

Pattern Creator is a pattern construction and modification software module and the key application of the Comtense CAD System. Newly designed or digitized patterns can be altered for certain style, graded, re-graded after modification, supplied with seams, folds, marks, notches, etc. Pattern Creator contains means for model/style description and formation as well as pattern areas and various lengths calculations. Patterns can be copied to the program from any model saved in database while viewing the model in a separate window, giving you ability to use standard patterns widely. All transformations automatically apply to all sizes of a piece. Pattern designing incorporates a number of tools to work with geometry elements. Vector graphics pattern design subsystem allows for multifarious reversible operations including the following:

• curves/segments and points transformations,
• curves subdivision,
• creation of lines and curves of given lengths,
• points addition/removal,
• sections rotation and mirror transformations,
• section combining etc.
• creation of new patterns by means of modification and combination of predefined patterns.

Integrated grading subsystem controls grading throughout the whole modification process. Once grading rules have been created, a pattern can be changed in many ways, while the software automaticaly regrades the reshaped pattern, or it's pieces, if the pattern was split, to follow the original grading idea as close as possible.

While bringing a great deal of automation into pattern designing and modification processes, it gives it's user full control over all the process stages. In many ways the software is designed to give the user the most natural feel of handling the pattern creation.

Pattern grading can be acieved though standard approach, where the process is controlled by entered grading rules, or it can be made in made-to-measure approach.
In the latter case Made-to-measure subsystem allows already build patterns to be modified just by entering new measured parameters

AB OVO is a software module used to create base patterns from measurement tables. All measurements can be altered at any time thus allowing to build a number of different patterns of the same type based on the same base pattern design. Any method of base pattern design can be used. While a user creates a base pattern in visual way, AB OVO generates macro code which can be altered in case of need, giving you full control over the base pattern generation process.
